The Cleric is a mage class of physical prowess and magical support in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Summary
[edit | edit source]The Cleric is a mage, who harnesses the powers of Necromancy and Hydrosophy to decimate their enemies and heal their allies. Their primary weapons are a one-handed mace, axe or sword and a shield. Their primary attributes are Strength and Intelligence. Their combat abilities are further supported by their innate talent Hot Head which increases their critical chance by +10% critical chance as well as their accurancy by + 10%. This talent works however only when they are at their maximum Vitality.
The cleric starts with Decaying Touch which is a necromancer skill, dealing physical damage up close and applying decay if the target does not have physical armour. Second starting necromancer skill is the Blood Sucker which allows its user to absorb the blood surface on which they stand in order to heal themselves. The last skill clerics have from start is the hydrosophist skill Restoration which allows them to heal themselves and their allies.
Outside combat they may utilise their Bartering civil skill in order to make their dealings with traders easier.

Detailed Description
[edit | edit source]Overview
[edit | edit source]Cleric is a hybrid class that specialises in dealing physical damage or water damage and therefore can damage both File:Physical Armour Icon.png physical and File:Magic Armour Icon.png magic armour of their enemies.
Physical damage relies on Strength attribute which boosts damage done by Necromancer spells. Water damage relies on Intelligence attribute which boosts damage done by Hydrosophist spells. Note that out of these two, only Hydrosophist combat ability increases damage done. Necromancer ability only increases health received by dealing direct damage to Vitality of your enemies. Should you decide to go for Necromancer spells, therefore physical damage, as your main offensive ability it is crucial to invest points in Warfare combat ability. Therefore damage-wise should you decide to focus on necromancy, it may be best to change class to Inquisitor whose secondary combat ability alongside Necromancer is Warfare.
It should be noted however that relying to heavily on water damage leaves one vulnerable to enemies with high File:Water Resistance Icon.png Water Resistance. There are very few enemies across the game with resistance to Physical damage, however that does not mean they do not exist.
In regards to equipment they may wear either Heavy Armour (high Physical Armour / low Magic Armour) and Cloth Armour (low Physical Armour / High Magic Armour) as these require points in either Strength or Intelligence.
List of all skills available
[edit | edit source]Cleric is a class focused on casting Hydrosophy and Necromancy spells. Both of these are capable of healing the caster and support their allies. Hydrosophy is focused on powers of water that allow Cleric to restore Magic Armour, summon rain and freeze their opponents. Necromancy allows Cleric to resurrect corpses of the fallen as their temporary minions, curse their enemies and leech their health.
Following table shows all spells which Cleric can learn as they level up and invest points in respective combat abilities.

- Focus on Hydrosophy is best complimented by investing points in Intelligence as well as using Intelligence-based weapons (staves and wands).
