Acid is a status effect in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Description
[edit | edit source]Acid is a negative environmental status which destroys Physical armour of the afflicted character per every turn they are afflicted by it. Once physical armour is destroyed it will stop causing any damage, however it will prevent armour restoration that is smaller than the amount of physical damage it deals. Therefore its main usage is to render character vulnerable to status effects such as Knocked-Down. Acid status effect is most often accompanied by poison damage which destroys Magic Armour.
Cause
[edit | edit source]There are many ways through which acid status effect can be triggered. On Rivellon it is the contact with cursed poison surface or cursed poison cloud which will cause acid. These surfaces are created casting curse on poison surface or poison cloud.
In combat acid may be caused in-directly by throwing Cursed Poison Flask which will create cursed poison surface beneath its target or through spells and scrolls.

[edit | edit source]Treatment
[edit | edit source]The effects of acid can be treated by either countering its effects or by removing the status altogether.
Status counter
[edit | edit source]Since acid status effect mainly destroys physical armour any effect, spell or item that restores it may counter its effect. There are several ways to restore Physical armour. First is by investing in Perseverance combat skill which will restore Physical armour whenever said character is Knocked-Down or Petrified.
Second way to restore Physical armour is through contact with blessed oil surface, which has a chance of applying Fortified status that restores Physical armour. Blessed oil surface can be create by casting Bless upon oil surface.
Consuming items is one of the easier ways to restore armour. Most efficient of consumable items is Physical Armour Potion which can also be upgraded. If one runs out of potions then they may consume Amadouvier however it is much less efficient. Efficiency of both of these can be improved through Five-Star Diner talent.
Armour restoration through spells and scrolls is arguably the best way of physical armour restoration as it scales with character level and points invested in Geomancer combat ability.
