Template:For Template:Infobox skill
Shackles of pain is a novice Necromancer skill in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Description
editTemplate:Pagename nd is a offensive necromancer skill that allows caster to place a binding curse upon their target. Characters without File:Physical Armour Icon.png Physical Armour are afflicted with File:Shackles of Pain.png Shackles of Pain status effect (for 3 turns) that makes them receive all damage done to the caster of the Template:Pagename nd skill. Note that the caster is not protected from the damage done to them.
The damage transferred if of the same type as the damage done to the caster and is not mitigated by the resistances of the character shackled by the skill (the only resistances taken into account are those of the caster of the Template:Pagename nd skill). Note that unless the damage transferred is piercing damage it will always damage the corresponding armour first. Shackled character will receive only the damage done to the caster of the skill. It will not receive status effects accompanied by the damage done. For example the water damage caused by Hydrosophist skill Ice Fan is transferred to the shackled character, but the File:Chilled.png Chilled status effect is not transferred if the caster is affected by it due to loss of File:Magic Armour Icon.png Magic Armour.
Due to the nature of the skill, this is the only way to make an Undead character take a poison damage since the damage transferred ignores all resistances.
Since Template:Pagename nd relies on Necromancy magic it cannot be cast if character is affected by File:Silenced.png Silenced and File:Enraged.png Enraged status effects. Damage caused by Template:Pagename nd skill is not reflected back when the target is under Deflective Barrier skill (Definitive Edition only). Note that it is possible to overwrite this skill by having a different character bind the shackled character to themselves. This will not remove the status from the victim of the skill but it will remove the status effect from the original caster of the skill, thus making it "safe" to attack them.
File:Shackles Of Pain Scroll.png Scroll and Skillbook
editTemplate:Pagename nd skillbook is a magical item that allows its reader to learn Template:Pagename nd skill, if they have at least 2 points into Necromancer ability, and use it indefinitely. In order to be able to cast the skill, character needs 1 free memory slot. Note that the book will disappear once read. The book weights 0.5 and its base value is 190 gold. A skillbook can be crafted if a Template:Pagename nd scroll is combined with a Blank Necromancy Skillbook. Since Template:Pagename nd is a novice Necromancer skill, traders will start selling the skillbook once Godwoken reach level 4.
Template:Pagename nd scroll is a magical item that allows any character to cast Template:Pagename nd skill, regardless of skill prerequisites, but only once. The only limiting element in casting Template:Pagename nd this way is the amount of File:Action Point Icon.png Action Points (AP) character has at their disposal in current turn. The scroll is craftable, weights 0.02 and has base value of 100 gold.
The cost of Action Points between Template:Pagename nd scroll and Template:Pagename nd skill themselves remains the same. Both the scroll and the skill itself are affected by other skills and talents that may provide additional bonuses.
File:Necromancer Icon.png Skill Modifiers
editTemplate:Pagename nd is a offensive skill which in itself does not do any damage, only applies File:Shackles of Pain.png Shackles of Pain status effect. As such it cannot be improved by abilities or attributes of the caster.
Note that the Necromancer ability does not work on this skill and damage caused to the Vitality of the shackled character, does not heal the caster of the skill.
Template:Pagename nd properties can only be affected by talents and other skills.

Traders
editFollowing table shows all NPCs who are guaranteed to sell necromancer spellbooks, with their location and coordinates in the right column, from them. The location shown in the table (and the coordinates) are only for the initial location the NPC is in. Note that some of these may have other spell/skillbooks and goods to sell. Out of these only Tarquin is guaranteed to follow the Godwoken as they travel with Lady Vengeance. Jahan may join the Godwoken on the ship as well if his demands are met.
