Sworn
More actions
The Sworn are beings who have accepted the God King's Covenant – an unbreakable pact that binds their soul to the God King in exchange for power and the promise of immortality. Most members of the Black Ring are Sworn, though some Sworn operate independently.
The Covenant
editThe Covenant is the pact between the God King and his mortal servants. Almira describes it as a promise that cannot be broken without consequence: Those who are Sworn to it are bound to the God King, come victory or defeat. If you try to break the Covenant unprepared, then you are sealing your own fate.[1]
The God King is a god for the godless. A beacon for those who have no place in this world. He seeks to cast down the world of the Seven, and build a new world, with the Sworn at his side.[2]
Once Sworn, escape is nearly impossible – your life is the God King's. Fail or betray him, and you are doomed... unless you find a way to break the Covenant.[3] The only known method is the Swornbreaker, a unique weapon that can sever the bond.
Gameplay
editBecoming Sworn
editOn The Nameless Isle, the God King may offer the player character the Covenant. Accepting makes the character Sworn, which:
Fane and other Undead characters are particularly susceptible – if certain persuasion checks are failed, Fane may become Sworn and permanently leave the party.[4]
Breaking the Covenant
editThe Covenant can be broken using the Swornbreaker, which can be crafted from the Swornbreaker Schematic. This plays a key role in Almira's quest line and can also free other Sworn characters.

Notes
edit- Voidwoken are distinct from the Sworn – they are former Eternals tainted by the Void, while the Sworn are mortal beings who have accepted the Covenant.
- Death is described as a temporary inconvenience for the Sworn, as the God King can resurrect his faithful.[5]
- Almira warns the Godwoken to avoid combat with the Sworn on The Nameless Isle, as death can be less than final for them, if the God King wills it.[6]
