The High Judge Orivand is a magister and leading figure of Fort Joy. He is in charge of purging the Sourcerers and carries this act in Hall of Penitence where he spends most of his time.
Orivand firmly believes that what he does is right, however he realises that it is not pleasant and would not look forward into such a fate himself. He believes Sourcerers should be told why they have to be purged as part of "education" for all and that if Sourcerers are not purged Rivellon will continue to suffer from Voidwoken attacks. Orivand also believes that purged Sourcerers are heroes (since they sacrificed the spark of life within them) and wonders whether they could not be used to build an army for the Divine Order.
