The Shakedown

The Shakedown is a side quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Quick walkthrough

• Approach Elodi, Ifan ben-Mezd, Burro and Kana.
• Either:
  • Step away from the fight
  • Side with Elodi and Ifan
    • Follow Elodi to the caverns and speak to her
  • Side with Burro and Kana
    • Kill Elodi

Note: if you step away from the fight and Elodi survive, the quest won't close.

Detailed walkthrough

Upon entering Fort Joy ghetto through the main entrance from the beach, the Godwoken will encounter Elodi, Ifan, Burro and Kana to the left (east) of the steps to the waypoint shrine. On approaching the group, it becomes clear that Burro and Kana are shaking Elodi down; Ifan is largely observing at this stage. The Godwoken can choose to do nothing, which leads to Elodi fighting the two thieves with Ifan supporting her; alternatively one can take a side or pay the thugs to leave her be.

If one chooses to side with Burro and Kana, this will result in combat and the necessity to kill Ifan (thus losing him as a potential companion). Siding with Elodi allows for a peaceful resolution by either convincing the two that she is the brutal mythic Impaler (Outlaw required) or via threat of violence. If one chooses to trick the two humans into thinking they are being paid, this will lead to combat, but Burro will be disabled due to the kick in the knee.

If Burro and Kana were sided with, the quest will end after combat. If Elodi was assisted, one will have to follow her to the caverns and speak to her there once more.

If Elodi perishes, you have the opportunity to loot a Severed Head from her remains. Consuming the head grants an Elf the First Aid skill.

The optimal resolution to this quest involves aiding Elodi and subsequently conversing with her in the Caverns. In total, your endeavors yield 900 XP, a Severed Head imbued with the ability to grant First Aid, and a reward.

• 26 Gold - After speaking with Elodi in Caverns
• Severed head - teaches First Aid if eaten by an Elf (given after speaking with Elodi in Caverns)
• + 80 Attitude towards all party members.

• Random Rewards Pool (May choose only 1)
  • Choice of either 3 or 4 equipment of common rarity
  • Ranges from: Helmet, Chest Armour, Leggings, Boots and a Weapon
  • Armour type ranges from heavy to cloth
• Random Item Rewards (Randomly given as part of main reward)
  • Undeployed Firestorm Trap (requires Crafter's Kit gift bag)
  • Fortify scroll (high chance)

Notes

• As of patch v3.0.50.423 Ifan will also assist against Burro and Kana. Elodi will also now give clear instructions to the Caverns where she resides once Kana and Burrow are defeated
• Special dialogue options become accessible when you have a party member possessing the Barbarian or Outlaw tag
• After completing the quest, should you choose to attack Burro and Kana, Ifan will provide assistance during combat.
