The Void is the plane of existence beyond the Source veil in Divinity: Original Sin 2. It is the domain of the God King, the Voidwoken, and the banished Eternals.

So your god seemed uncharacteristically frightened, told you the Void was coming and that only you could ascend to Divinity, after which you felt a cold, deep within you.

Overview

edit

The Void lies beyond the barrier maintained by the power of Source and the Divine. When the Seven Gods rebelled against the God King, they banished him and the majority of the Eternal race into the Void. Since then, the barrier between Rivellon and the Void has been maintained by the Divine – first by the original Divine and most recently by Lucian.

With Lucian's apparent death, the barrier has weakened considerably, allowing Voidwoken to break through and terrorise the mortal world. The thinning of the veil is a central crisis of the game.

Voidwoken

edit
Main article: Voidwoken

The Void is home to the Voidwoken – monstrous creatures that are drawn to the use of Source in Rivellon. Whenever Source is used, there is a risk of attracting Voidwoken from beyond the veil. The Divine Order uses this as justification for their persecution of Sourcerers.

The God King

edit
Main article: God King

The God King rules the Void from his exile, commanding the Voidwoken and the remnants of the Eternal race. He seeks to break through the barrier and reclaim Rivellon, offering mortals who become Sworn to him considerable power in exchange for their loyalty.

Notes

edit
  • The Void is not a location that can be freely explored; it is referenced through lore, dialogue, and story events.
  • Using Source skills in the world can attract Voidwoken encounters, reflecting the in-game mechanic of the Void's proximity.
  • The fate of the Void and its barrier is determined by the player's choices in the game's final act.
