Suffocating (Status)
From dos2.wiki
More actions
Suffocating is a status effect in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that destroys the afflicted character's magic armour each turn.
Overview
editSuffocating is a negative status effect that destroys magic armour at the start of each affected turn. Unlike most damaging statuses, Suffocating specifically targets magic armour rather than vitality, making it effective at stripping a target's magical defences and leaving them vulnerable to magic-based crowd control effects.
The Torturer talent bypasses armour restrictions and extends Suffocating's duration by one turn.
Effects
edit- Destroys magic armour each turn based on the source's level and statistics.
- Duration is typically 2 turns unless modified.
- Once magic armour is fully depleted, Suffocating continues to deal damage to vitality.
Sources
editSuffocating can be inflicted by:
- Vacuum Touch – a Aerotheurge skill that applies Suffocating on contact
- Vacuum Aura – an Aerotheurge skill that applies Suffocating in an area
- Certain crafted skill combinations involving Aerotheurge
Removal
edit- The status expires after its duration ends.
- Magic armour restoration does not remove the status but can mitigate its effects by replenishing what Suffocating destroys.
- Bless or other status-clearing effects can remove Suffocating.
Notes
edit- Suffocating is one of the statuses affected by the Torturer talent, which allows it to bypass armour and extends its duration by one turn.
- Suffocating is particularly valuable against enemies with high magic armour, as it strips their defences each turn, enabling follow-up crowd control.
- The internal status ID is `SUFFOCATING`.
