Detailed walkthrough

Upon boarding the ship in the hidden alcove, head to the ship's bow where the elf Daeyena can be found surrounded by magister guards being led by Krendt, Ellwin and Swentin. If the party is led by an elf, they will recognise Daeyena as a Scion and have the option to inform the Magisters of your obligation to protect the Scion. Either attempt to keep out of the situation or come to the elf's aid; regardless of the choice made, battle will ensue and the Magisters must be defeated.

Once the Magisters are defeated, Daeyena will speak to the Godwoken and explain she is trying to retrieve the spores that were stolen from her, otherwise she will walk off. Head to the ship's stern to find the manifest and spore container, the latter directly beside a dead magister on the elevated part of the ship (you may have to spin the camera to see it). Take the container and read the manifest.

If Daeyena dies in Act 1, you can retrieve the first two pieces of the Armour of Contamination (the Boots of Contamination and Greaves of Contamination ), but you can still retrieve them later if she survives. To retreive all of the pieces, you have to kill her at some point, and the boots and leggings she has on her will be leveled to whatever level she was when you killed her.

Assuming she survived Act 1, Daeyena can be found again in Act 2, on the road by the Elven Encampment, the A Trial for All Seasons, and the Magicockerel. There, she has a magister prisoner, and if spoken to, she will execute said prisoner. This creates the third piece, the gauntlets. You can kill her for the three pieces now (two level 14 elves, a hidden tree monster, and two hidden plant summons, also at level 14. The other elf has Provoke), but, again, if you let her live you can still retrieve them in Arx (Note: if you fight her her before the execution, you can use Trigger Spores to make the gauntlets yourself -- this kills the magister). The gauntlets will be made at YOUR level, not Daeyena's.

If however Daeyena managed to die on the ship in Fort Joy, you must use the "Contamination Spore" (not flawed) as fuel to activate the skill "Trigger Spores" to kill a magister. Note that the skill is blocked by magic armor, so be sure to peel it off the target first. This will give the character that used "Trigger Spores" an effect that generates the gauntlets upon their death (so have that resurrection scroll ready).

"Trigger Spores" can be obtained from eating the flesh Daeyena drops upon her death or alternatively by reading the Spore Research Notes on a stool in the North East of the Blackpit, next to the contaminated elf.

The chest piece can be found in the exterior of the Blackpits, afflicting a magister. The magister is on an upper area that loops back from the oil derrick. You can hear this magister in conversation before entering the blackpits itself, by the gates. A speech check aids in the removal of the armour, otherwise you can kill the magister. You can return the chest piece to Daeyena, or keep it (or bring it to her but then refuse to give it to her, causing a fight).

Should Daeyena survive Act 2, you can retrieve the rest of the pieces of the set in Arx, in the magical research room in Reimond's basement. To acquire all the pieces requires killing her now, or they are gone. The helmet is essentially cursed, afflicting the wearer with permanent Madness. A speech check can be made to avoid this effect (difficulty 5). If the cursed helmet is worn, it can only be removed upon the character's death.
