Retribution is a defensive combat ability in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that reflects a portion of damage received back to the attacker.
Overview
editSee also: Combat Abilities
Retribution passively reflects a percentage of all damage taken back to the source of that damage. The reflected damage ignores the attacker's armour and is dealt as the same damage type that was received. This makes it a purely passive defensive ability – it requires no action points or active use.
Each point invested in Retribution grants +5% damage reflected.

| 2 | 10% |

| 10 | 50% |
Notes
edit- Retribution is generally considered a weak investment compared to other combat abilities, as the reflected damage does not scale with the character's offensive statistics and requires taking damage to be useful.
- The reflected damage bypasses the attacker's armour, making it more effective against enemies with high armour values.
- Retribution is most effective on tanky characters with high vitality and armour, such as those using the Lone Wolf talent, as they can absorb more hits and reflect more total damage.
- When combined with the Unstable talent, a character can deal significant damage on death while reflecting damage throughout the fight.
- The ability works against all sources of damage, including ranged attacks and spells.
