Loremaster

From dos2.wiki

Loremaster is a civil ability in Divinity: Original Sin 2 that allows a character to identify items and examine enemies to reveal their statistics and weaknesses.

Overview

edit
See also: Civil Abilities

Loremaster serves two purposes: identifying unidentified equipment and examining enemies during combat. Unidentified items display unknown statistics until a character with sufficient Loremaster level identifies them. Examining enemies reveals their resistances, abilities, and other combat-relevant information.

Each point invested in Loremaster allows the character to identify items of a higher level tier. At higher levels, examining enemies provides increasingly detailed information about their statistics.

Effects

edit
Loremaster scaling
Level Effect
1 Identify items up to level 4; basic enemy examination.
2 Identify items up to level 9; examination reveals resistances.
3 Identify items up to level 13; examination reveals abilities.
4 Identify items up to level 16; detailed examination.
5+ Identify all items; full enemy examination with all statistics revealed.

Identifying items

edit

Unidentified items can be found throughout the world and from vendors. To identify an item, right-click it and select "Identify" – this requires the identifying character to have a Loremaster level equal to or higher than the item's tier.

An identifying glass can also be used to identify items regardless of Loremaster level. These are consumable items found as loot or purchased from vendors.

Notes

edit
  • Unlike Lucky Charm and Bartering, Loremaster does not use the highest party value – the character performing the identification or examination must have the required level.
  • The Ancestral KnowledgeAncestral Knowledge racial talent grants +1 Loremaster to elf characters.
  • Investing 1–2 points in Loremaster on a single character is generally sufficient, as identifying glasses can supplement the ability for higher-tier items.
